Spain

“...the colour in Rae’s painting was beginning to become much richer and often also darker, while the surfaces of her pictures became more complex with her extensive use of collage. This shift suited the landscapes she found when in the late 1980s she began travelling regularly to southern Spain...the things that caught her attention there were those that testified to the human relationship not with the sea, in this case, but with the land: history written on the landscape as we see it”
